In the civil
construction work and structure of petroleum facilities to obtain perfect results, it should be made a
basis design for reference in the engineering and construction work. The design basis document itself
must be referred to
the applicable standards and local regulations
Engineering and Design
All design and fabrication
drawings shall be prepared using Metric Units (S.I) and Reinforcing bar sizes shall
be shown on the drawings. Structural steel design will be performed using the
latest American Institute of Steel Construction shapes
conforming to Manual Steel Construction or the other code, and Concrete design
will be performed using American Concrete Institute standard.
Geotechnical Data and Hydrology
Study
Soils design parameters to be
used for foundation design shall be based upon soil investigation report has
been performed by geo-technical consultant. The subsurface investigation shall
include soil boring, field observation, and laboratory testing sufficient to
determine soil substrata, elevation and characteristics. For pipeline crossings
onshore, information shall be gathered from river and stream flows combined
with soils characteristics such that the design at the crossings shall take
into account scour and erosion.
Site Development
The Site Layout shall allow
access for maintenance and manpower at all equipment, buildings, piping, and
facilities. The layout shall be located and arranged with full consideration
for construction, maintenance, vehicles maneuvering, operating convenience,
safety, and future addition of equipment. Space shall also be allowed for
storage. The Site Layout shall give due consideration to minimizing the
requirements for piping, conduit and wiring, and fencing.
MAJOR MATERIALS
All materials shall be used new
and these materials will be supplied with appropriate certification and
manufacturing records. These materials will be supplied with certificates of
guarantee.
Portland Cement (P.C) shall
conform to ASTM C 150 or equivalent, Type I (Ordinary Portland Cement)
for superstructures and Type V for Sulphate Resistant Cement for foundations
and underground structures where chemical corrosively attack and aggregate shall conform to ASTM C
33 or equivalent. mixing water for concrete shall
meet the requirements of the ASTM C94 and shall be tested by laboratory for
certificated. Reinforcement Bar,Reinforced in general use for
concrete shall be deformed bars conforming to ASTM A615 Grade 60, SII 0136, BJTD
40 or equivalent. Reinforced bar less 13mm diameter shall be plain bar
conforming to ASTM A615 Grade 40, SII 0136, BJTP 24 or equivalent. Structural steel shall conform to
ASTM A36 or JIS G 3101 Grade SS 41 or equivalent. And for Structural steel pipe shall conform to
ASTM A-53 Grade –B or JIS G3144 or equivalent.
DESIGN LOAD
Loads and external forces to be
considered in the design of plant structures include but are not limited to the
following, Dead loads, Live load, Operating load, Test load, Vehicular load, Thermal friction forces, Impact
Load, Dynamic/ Vibration load, Earth Pressure, Wind load, Rain Load, Earthquake
load/ Seismic Load and Maintenance load
